Faith-Promise funds are distributed through our Missions Ministry. Over 95% of the money collected is sent directly to the missionary efforts we help to support (The remainder is used for bringing in mission speakers during the year, and the activities at our annual Faith-Promise Weekend). Our Faith-Promise 'financial year' is from June to May of each calendar year. Our 2009-2010 commitments to mission groups have been fulfilled because you have given faithfully. Thank you.
The Purpose of Faith Promise
Our Savior is Jesus Christ, and it is He who commanded us to reach out to those who do not know His saving grace. The Christian Church of Los Alamos has long recognized this responsibility. We are committed to take the message of His saving grace to our community, New Mexico, the United States, and the world. Our Faith Promise helps to fulfill His Great Commission. Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matt 28:18-20). What Is Faith Promise Weekend?
Faith-Promise is more than a weekend emphasis on missions. It is more than a fund raising campaign. Faith Promise weekend brings into focus our part in world evangelism. Yes, we can, and do impact the world for Christ when we pray, and when we put the resources entrusted to us to work in the hand of a missionary. Faith Promise is a covenant made with God in which we promise God to use a portion of our resources for evangelism. These funds are to be designated to the Mission Fund. Making a Faith Promise is a means to encourage the growth of our relationship with God and we grow as we respond to God’s will in faith. It is His will for everyone to know His love as expressed through His son. By faith we ask God to provide ABOVE AND BEYOND our means--then we promise this gift to His work of missions. It is an offering above our regular giving that supports our missions. It operates from these primary assumptions
* God delights in being trusted.
* Missions are the task of the whole church. God’s first interest and greatest blessing is reserved for the person involved in announcing the Good News of His only Son, Jesus Christ.
* All of God's promises and commands are personal. This is a program that invites and requires your personal involvement in the great program of the Kingdom.
* This exercise of faith requires that we ask God according to what we believe He can do, and not according to what we think we can do. The “test” involves solid evidence---money for missions.
“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (II Cor. 9:7)
“According to your faith will it be done to you?” (Matt 9:29)
