Update from Pastor Steve

Congratulations to all our students heading back to new classes at school. We hope your families have enjoyed a change of pace this summer and are ready for a return to a more scheduled life.   We’ve been busy this summer, discussing vision (the why), the importance of knowing Jesus (the Who), the Bible (the what) and its application in life (the how). There has also been some behind-the-scenes re-organizing and upgrading of our education spaces. Exciting changes are coming to our primary Bible classes!  Here’s what you need to know…

On Sunday, September 8th, all K-6th grade students will begin meeting at 9:15AM in the large classroom (Room 103/105) downstairs for a time of active praise and worship. Around 9:35AM, children will adjourn to separate classrooms for lessons and activities until 10:15AM.

Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will stay in the large classroom with Karen Edwards and Barb Hanson. (Yes! Ms. Karen and Ms. Barb are graduating with their 1st graders.) Presently, we have only one preschool student and she will be included in this class until such a time as there are a few more preschool children attending.

3rd through 6th grade students will meet upstairs in Room 240 with Patricia Cisneros and one of her wonderful assistants.

Parents you can be of great assistance to all the children and their teachers by…

Being punctual. We only have 60 minutes a week with your precious children and we love every minute with them!

Attending regularly. This encourages the other students (it’s no fun to be the only one in class), models godly priorities, and helps the teachers to reinforce Biblical truths.

Having your child bring their own Bible, if they have one. No problem if they do not, or it is forgotten at home, as the classrooms have Bibles available. This helps to illustrate that the Bible is God’s special book, His written Word, where we encounter His living Word.

Keeping any foods, toys, or electronics with you before sending your students to class. This will help promote a healthy learning environment and limit distractions.

Thank you so much for the privilege of sharing God’s Word and His love with your children. Please take advantage of the adult classes that are happening concurrently with your children’s classes. “Tactics” (Rick Hinckley), in the meeting room off the main lobby, and beginning August 25, a verse-by-verse walk through Titus (Doug Partin) in the Fellowship Hall (Rayburn Hall).  Also, just for women, a study of Ephesians (Leta Harlow) in Room 101.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We would love to listen and converse!

We are looking forward to a wonderful year with your children!
